Responding to particular needs in a few countries, AVSI has a role in the direct provision of education, usually in associations with local non-profit partners to manage primary and secondary schools. In each case, we began from an initiative born within the community, and over the years we have found this first-hand involvement in the day-to-day challenges of financing and managing a school to be an invaluable resource that informs and enriches AVSI's education programs around the world.
