AVSI and Human Rights in Haiti:”Honor and Merit” Recognized

 

On March 15th and in commemoration of Human Rights Day, Ms. Fiammetta Cappelllini, AVSI’s Country Representative in Haiti since 2009, was awarded the official recognition:

“Honor and merit to AVSI for its important commitment to fight discrimination and for the respect of the rights of the vulnerable people in the metropolitan area of Port-au-Prince.”

 

The ceremony took place at the Town Hall of the logistics base of the United Nations in the capital city of Port-au-Prince. Mme. Florence Elie, Head of the Haitian Office for the Protection of Citizens and Mr. Ben Majekodunmi, Chief of the Human Rights Section of the UN peacekeeping mission to Haiti (MINUSTAH), on behalf of the UN High Commissioner for Human Rights, presented Fiammetta with the award certificate in recognition of the quality of the various activities conducted by AVSI over the past decade and particularly in the aftermath of the 2010 earthquake.
